Arcamere

Arcamere for macOS

Back up to a bucket you own, then let it prove every week that what came back is what went in.

Download Arcamere 0.5.0 macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon. Signed and notarized by Apple.

It updates itself

Every later version arrives on its own, signed and checked against its published hash before it is allowed to replace anything. You install once.

Your bucket, your keys

Point it at any S3-compatible storage you already pay for. Everything is encrypted before it leaves the machine, so the bucket holds nothing readable.

Nothing to sign up for

No account, no email, no sign-in. The app runs on your Mac and talks to your storage.

Installing it

  1. Open the download and drag Arcamere into your Applications folder.
  2. Launch it. macOS checks Apple's notarization and opens it without a warning. Arcamere lives in the menu bar rather than the Dock.
  3. Give it the two permissions it asks for. It explains what each one is for and what it will not do before asking.
  4. Point it at your bucket, then run one restore drill by hand so you have seen it work before you rely on it.

If you want to check the download yourself before opening it, its SHA-256 is published alongside the file:

What it costs

Arcamere is $79 a year when you bring your own bucket, which is the way it is meant to be used. Storage you already pay for stays yours and is not marked up. The full pricing is on the home page.
